When GAC UK was appointed to handle a complex carousel project at the port of Hartlepool in north-east England, it turned to energy specialists Motive Offshore Group to help deliver satisfaction.
A major offshore client tasked the local GAC team with providing a range of shipping and logistics support for an operation to spool 21km of HU1215 umbilical pipeline to link subsea facilities to an existing platform direct from the factory at the load-out quay to the carousel on a waiting vessel. GAC also handled the vessel’s arrival and departure, equipment purchases & rentals for the project, accommodation for the project team and assistance with Covid-19 testing.
Trusted partner
Motive Offshore’s Rentals Division stepped up to the mark to provide carousel packers and operators to conduct key tasks quayside. They responded with a team of 20, including personnel with experience of carousel operations, who managed the schedules to ensure fast and flexible mobilisation to accommodate the fluctuating vessel schedule.
The two companies have a history of cooperation on joint projects, so picking Motive as the trusted partner with the skills and resources for the job was a no-brainer. Motive’s past experience and sound local knowledge at Hartlepool eased the process pre-arrival client meetings and guidance on what would be needed for the spooling operation. They also fast-tracked the manufacture of equipment paddles to enable easy manipulation during loading, keeping on-site operations as efficient as possible.
Integrated and efficient
Phil Thomas, GAC UK Agency Manager, says the GAC UK and Motive teams worked flawlessly together, providing fully integrated services to deliver an efficient and well-executed project.
“We reached out to Motive knowing they met our stringent supplier vetting process and were already well versed in the requirements at Hartlepool,” he adds. “They provided excellent service from the initial quotation and enquiry stages, right through to the completion of works onboard the vessel.”
