Tropical Cyclone Ilsa: Reactivation of port services

The Port Hedland is now at Cyclone Alert Stage 5 – All Clear. All terminals and port services have been informed to re-activate services today (14 April).

Anchorage

  • Vessels are permitted to enter the inner anchorage from 1100LT. Port Hedland VTS will control access to the anchorage. Vessel are to comply with Port Hedland VTS instructions.

Inner harbour

  • Movement of small vessels was permitted as per their Safety Management System (SMS) from 0900LT.
  • Based on the easing of the weather conditions, large vessels will be permitted to enter the inner harbour from 1200LT, as per the shipping programme, which will be published in due course.

Marine works across the harbour

  • Marine works across the inner and outer harbour can commence mobilisation and operations from 1600LT.
  • Movements are to be approved by Marine Team as per normal procedures.

Based on the current analysis of Tropical Cyclone Ilsa, the risk of gales over Port Hedland and offshore waters has eased as the system moves away and further inland. Shipping operations will continue as planned at Dampier, Ashburton, Varnus Island & Cape Preston West ports. Adjustments may be made based on prevalent and expected weather conditions.

The weather forecasts will continue to be monitored; however, no further updates for Tropical Cyclone Ilsa will be provided.
