Due to the approach of Tropical Cyclone Claudia, the Cape Lambert Harbour Master has cleared all berths. Vessels arriving to anchorage will be directed to drop anchor 5 – 7 nautical miles ENE of the C1 buoy. Based on current weather advice, the port plans to start berthing vessels again on Wednesday morning (15 January).
The Category 3 intensity system is currently offshore to the north of the Kimberley, within 45 km of 16.1 deg. South, 117.2 deg. East, 520 km north of Karratha and 490 km north northwest of Port Hedland. It is moving west-southwest at 29 km per hour and is forecast to continue to move in a general westerly direction.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Claudia has sustained winds near the centre of 130 km per hour with wind gusts to 185 km per hour.
