Kiel Canal Authorities have announced that the Big New North Lock in Brunsbuettel will be closed for maintenance works from 07:30 to 12:00 hours local time tomorrow (24 February).
Further, new regulations are in force with immediate effect to prevent full shut down of the Canal. At times when only one New Big Lock is available either at Brunsbüttel or Holtenau, all vessels in Traffic Group 3 or higher must accept an assisting tug for mooring inside locks at the end where only one lock is operational, to prevent damage to the working lockgates.
Traffic Group 3 main dimensions are up to:
- 120,00m LOA or 140,00m LOA
- 19,00m Beam 17,00m Beam
- 6,10 m Draft
