30 Dec 2021 / Singapore
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), together with the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU) and Singapore Organisation of Seamen (SOS), have extended the financial assistance available to Singaporean seafarers unable to secure shipboard employment due to border control measures and crew change restrictions for another six months (until end June 2022).
Eligible seafarers may apply for up to SGD $700 per month for a maximum of 9 months instead of the previous maximum of 6 months. Applicants who have already received 6 months of SRP in 2021 can apply for further financial assistance from 1 January 2022 onwards.
