For approximately 14 months, dredging operations will be carried out [in Kai Tsing Container Basin] within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D):
(A) 22° 20.885’N 114° 07.171’E
(B) 22° 20.574’N 114° 07.276’E
(C) 22° 20.462’N 114° 06.887’E
(D) 22° 20.772’N 114° 06.781’E
The works will be carried out by one grab dredger and one derrick lighter. Two tugboats and one hopper barge will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
The dredged materials will be conveyed to the hopper barge anchored within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (E) to (H):
Transshipment Area:
(E) 22° 18.260’N 114° 07.143’E
(F) 22° 18.260’N 114° 07.231’E
(G) 22° 18.179’N 114° 07.231’E
(H) 22° 18.179’N 114° 07.143’E
Transshipment of dredged materials will take place in this area. The lighter assisted by the tugboat will deliver the dredged materials to the hopper barge from time to time.
A working area of approximately 50 metres around the dredger and lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger, lighter and hopper barge.
A silt curtain will be established beside the dredger. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtain.
The hours of work will be round-the-clock.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
