Deferment of Vaccinated Travel Lanes

01 Dec 2021 / Singapore

Singapore’s Multi-Ministry Taskforce has deferred the launch of the Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as a precautionary measure to reduce the risks of importation and spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.

The launch of these VTLs was originally planned for 6 December 2021, with applications for the Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) for short-term visitors and long-term pass holders opening on 29 November 2021.

After the World Health Organisation classified Omicron as a variant of concern on 26 November, it was decided to defer the commencement of the VTLs for Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE until further notice in view of their proximity as transport nodes to the affected countries of Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Singapore has not detected any cases of this variant to date.

Any traveller who wishes to enter Singapore via a VTL must apply for a VTP pass. The list of criteria for VTL can be found at https://safetravel.ica.gov.sg/vtl/requirements-and-process

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore does not facilitate crew enter via VTL / VTP pass and will not issue any Final No objection letter/email.
