The deep depression over Westcentral Bay and adjoining area moved slightly north-northeastwards and now lies over the same area (near Latitude 17.4 deg. N, Longitude 87.0 deg. E) and was centred at 12pm today (23 October 2023) about 755km west-southwest of Chattogram Port, 710km west-southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 630km southwest of Mongla Port, and 630km southwest of Payra Port. It is likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify further.
Under it influence, deep convection is taking place over North Bay. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal Areas of Bangladesh.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48km of the deep depression centre is about 50 km per hour rising to 60 km per hour in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower Distant Cautionary Signal No. One but instead hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. Three (R) Three.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast, so that they can take shelter within very short notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
