The severe cyclonic storm ‘MICHAUNG’ over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved north-northwestwards further and now lies over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area (near lat. 13.6 deg. N / long. 80.8 deg. E) and was centred at 12 noon today (4 December) about 1550km southwest of Chattogram port, 1515km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1385km southwest of Mongla port and 1405km southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move north-northwestwards and may cross South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam during late night to morning (5 December).
Maximum sustained wind speed within 64km of the cyclone centre is about 90ph rising to 110kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal No. two (R) two.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution will further notice.
