For approximately nine months, marine site investigation works involving sampling of subsea soil, drilling of vibrocore and geophysical survey will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (G) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 25.662’N 114° 12.742’E
(B) 22° 25.683’N 114° 12.933’E
(C) 22° 25.545’N 114° 13.123’E
(D) 22° 25.262’N 114° 13.275’E
(E) 22° 24.891’N 114° 13.236’E
(F) 22° 24.657’N 114° 13.204’E
(G) 22° 24.480’N 114° 13.041’E
The works will be carried out by two jack-up barges, one flat-top work barge, one work boat and one tug. One tug and one dumb lighter will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
A working area of approximately 60 metres around each barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the working barges. Yellow flashing lights will be installed at the four corners of the jack-up barges to indicate their positions.
Silt curtains, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established beside each barge. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtain.
The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works area at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the area.
